The Phases of the EquinEnt Pathway to Success

EquinEnt participants will engage in a 4 week/8 session Idea Camp at the Hillsborough County Small Business Development Center  (entrepreneurial mindset training), and a 12 week start-up studio program at  AMRoC Fab Lab with over 40 hours of mentored instruction and business development support, capped by a 1 Million Cups presentation final project!

Keep reading to see the pathway to success, our great presenters, mentors, and advisors, and finally, how to find out more about the EquinEnt program.

Phase 1 – The Idea Camp!

Idea Camp is a 4 week series that meets twice a week online, and is designed to inspire and engage new and future business owners in the fundamentals of entrepreneurial thinking.  Participants explore their perception of wealth; learn how to recognize opportunities; understand their power to choose, learn the value of pursuing knowledge; and harness the power of persistence.

Phase 2 – Establishing Your Business

The next 4 weeks (and the remaining Phases) will meet at the AMRoC Fab  Lab in the University Mall.  Phase 2 will guide you through the actual legal establishment of your business both with the State and with the Federal government.   We’ll cover how to get your Employer ID number (EIN) which is needed by your bank, register with the State, what’s a DUNS number, setting up your business bank account, and understanding the process and exploring tools that will help you track your income and expenses.

Phase 3: Know Your Customer

How do you create and capture an uncontested market space, and thereby make the competition irrelevant?  These 5 weeks will focus on how to create and capture new demand for your product or service.   We’ll cover how to model all your potential sources of income and target those sources with your marketing strategy.  We’ll also help you get your business domain name registered and show how to start up your business website.  And we’ll cover the value of the Business Model Canvas, as well as how to conduct customer surveys and use results to improve your net profit.

Phase 4: Growing Your Business

The final 3 weeks will dive deeper into the Business Model Canvas.  You’ll learn how to use a SWOT Analysis and complete your the rest of your customer surveys.  Phase 4 will also help you learn how to pitch your business to customers and investors , an essential skill as your business grows.

Finally, your journey will culminate with your opportunity to present your business in an online episode of 1 Million Cups.  The presentation is a required finale of the EquinEnt program, but don’t worry, we’ll coach you through the process and you’ll be a stellar 1 Million Cups presenter.
